The weather was nice this morning on the American River Bike path. The path parallels US Highway 50, at the Western Terminus, and this road sign.

It's a beautiful Saturday morning. There are a lot of people bicycling, walking, jogging and picnicking.

Later, I found a quite spot, with a picnic table, a stone’s throw from the river. It was the perfect place to stop for an early lunch.

You can learn more, about this wonderful bicycle ride at Trails.com: American River Bike Path | Sacramento California Mountain Bike Trails | Trails.com http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail.aspx?trailId=BGS057-026#ixzz1R4Y67pQW

Onward and upward toward Folsom and the Sierra Mountains.

I bicycled past Folsom prison. You might remember the Johnny Cash song Folsom Prison Blues http://youtu.be/v7gV5C5mB7A

It was quiet, and peaceful,  as I pedaled past the prison. However, keep your eyes open for this guy.

Do not let him near your bicycle.
